April 2026

Sun, showers and the occasional rainbow — a very April start to the growing season in the kitchen garden.

This month has been spent planting herbs and early flowers alongside the first of the season’s crops. Onions are now in, peas are beginning to climb, and broad beans are settling into the cool soil.

Everything is starting to move — longer days and rising temperatures bringing gentle momentum, while patience still plays its part.

Our dog Motte has taken on the role as garden supervisor, keeping watch as the beds begin to fill out and the season gathers pace.

Next, our attention turns to tomatoes.
