A Michelin-starred journey from soil to service.
Led by Somerset-born Chef Jon and General Manager Helen, Lumière offers an elegant, ingredient-led British fine dining experience, centred around a seasonal tasting menu shaped by the finest produce.
Set in the heart of Cheltenham, on the edge of the Cotswolds, the restaurant is rooted in its surroundings — shaped by landscape, season and the people behind each ingredient. This sense of place informs an approach that is both thoughtful and precise, guided by a deep respect for provenance.
Since opening in 2009, our focus has remained unchanged: careful sourcing, considered cooking and hospitality delivered with intelligence and warmth. Ingredients are sourced locally through longstanding relationships with farmers, fishermen and artisan producers, alongside harvests from our own family garden.
From the moment you sit down, every detail is designed to reflect the food and the season. The result is an experience defined by balance, consistency and quiet attention to detail.
Our dishes do not begin in the kitchen — they begin in the garden.
The garden is an extension of the kitchen itself. Each day it quietly shapes the direction of the menu — what is ready, what is at its peak, and what deserves to be the focus of a dish. This connection brings a natural rhythm to the cooking, where seasonality is not a concept, but a constant presence.
In the kitchen, creativity is grounded in restraint.
Technique is used not to complicate, but to elevate — allowing each ingredient to speak clearly and honestly.
There is often a quiet thread of nostalgia running through the dishes: familiar flavours reimagined with clarity and refinement, designed not only to be enjoyed in the moment, but to evoke something more lasting.
Menus evolve continuously, shaped not by trends but by the changing seasons, the garden, and the relationships held with trusted producers.
Dining at Lumière is designed to feel both refined and welcoming.
Service is thoughtful and intuitive, creating a calm, elegant space where guests can settle into the experience. Each detail — from the pacing of the menu to the atmosphere of the room — is carefully considered, yet never overstated.
At its heart, it is simply the kind of restaurant we would love to visit — where great food, warm service and a genuine sense of connection come together naturally.
