Worm Farmers! 👩🏼🌾
We were always really keen to get our worm farms set up, one of our biggest expenses at the kitchen garden is the need for high quality compost for potting seedlings. The compost produced by our blue nosed worms is very high-quality, which in turn helps to improve the health of our soil and increases the growth and productivity of our plants. It's full of beneficial microorganisms and nutrients that our plants need to thrive. There are other reasons that we think everyone should have a worm farm for their kitchen garden:
1. A worm farm provides a natural and sustainable way to manage organic waste from your kitchen. Instead of sending your food scraps to a landfill, you can recycle them into nutrient-rich compost through the work of worms
2. Cost-effective: Worm farms are relatively inexpensive to set up and maintain, making them a great low-cost option for people who want to improve their kitchen garden without breaking the bank.
3. Low maintenance: Worm farms require very little maintenance. Once you've set up your worm farm, you simply need to add food scraps every few days, keep the bedding moist, and harvest the compost when it's ready.
4. Easy to create: You can easily create your own worm farm using a few simple supplies, such as a plastic container, some worms, and bedding material. This makes it a great DIY project for anyone interested in sustainable gardening.
5. Environmentally friendly: By using a worm farm, you're diverting organic waste from the landfill and reducing your carbon footprint. This is a great way to contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet.
