Fruit Cage Update..

Spring is here, the sun is shining, and seeds are sprouting in the garden. As well as all the usual springtime sowing, this week we’ve been getting on with the new fruit cage - putting weed membrane down, supports up for the raspberries, and planting the latest additions - honeyberry and jostaberry.

Apparently because honeyberries originate in a totally different ecosystem (Siberia!) there aren’t enough insects around in the UK at this time of year to pollinate them - so we’ve drafted the kids in to get their paintbrushes out and do it by hand.
